MacVector with Assembler 21-Day Trial

Please click on one of the links at the bottom of this page to download the disk image for a 21-day trial of MacVector with Assembler (version 18.6). Note that the trial includes the optional add-on Assembler module which must be purchased separately. The link will download a disk image file that should automatically mount a virtual disk on your desktop - if it does not mount, simply double-click on the MacVector18.6.4(52).dmg file in your Downloads folder. MacVector 18.6 is a Universal Binary and will run natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1 or M2) hardware.

There are two options for installing MacVector;

(a) If you have Administrative privileges to your machine, simply drag the MacVector folder onto the Applications folder and it will be installed for all users of the machine.

(b) If you do not have Administrative privileges, you can install, activate and run MacVector from your own personal home folder. Double-click on the OpenUserApplicationsFolder icon to open a separate window displaying the contents of that folder. Then drag the MacVector folder into the window to install for your use only.

If you already have a valid license for MacVector with an active maintenance contract, the trial will automatically recognize the license and will be converted to the fully functional release version.

Otherwise, when you first start MacVector, a dialog will appear warning you that no valid license is installed. Click on the "Activate License..." button and enter the License Owner, Serial Number and Activation Code EXACTLY as they were sent to you. You have the option of installing the license for all users of the computer (requiring an Admin password) or just for your account, which can be done without needing administrative access.

If you never received this information, first check your spam box, then contact sales@macvector.com.

MacVector "Free"

When the trial period expires, MacVector will continue to work, but with reduced functionality. All of the items in the Analyze menu will be disabled, along with the Align To Folder and Auto Annotation functions in the Database menu. The Internet BLAST and Internet Entrez functions in the Database menu will continue to work, along with the Retrieve functions. This means that you can use MacVector Free to open or download sequences in any supported format, edit them, print, copy sequences, text and graphics, and save in any supported format. You can even create new sequence constructs by clicking on restriction enzyme sites, copying and pasting into other sequence molecules. For more information on that, please check out our Clone Construction Tutorial.

Compatibility

Please note that MacVector 18.5 requires macOS 10.12 (macOS Sierra) or later. This includes macOS Monterey. MacVector is Macintosh ONLY and will NOT work on Windows PCs.
