MacVector Licensing
MacVector uses a software licensing scheme that was introduced with MacVector 10.
License Activation
All users will receive details of their license information in the following form;
License Owner: Name
Serial Number: 1234567
Activation Code: ABCD-DEFGH-IJKL
To activate your license, start MacVector and click on the "Activate License" button in the startup dialog. If MacVector is already running, choose the "Options->Activate License..." menu item. In the dialog that appears, enter your activation code details that were sent to you. It is important to enter the details EXACTLY as sent. After you enter the details and click on the OK button, a dialog should be displayed with your license details. If the dialog indicates that the information you entered was incorrect, please try again, paying particular attention to any punctuation or other characters in the License Owner field. If you still get the error, please send an e-mail to support@macvector.com, including the activation details that failed.
Single User Licensing
This is the equivalent of the old "static", "dongle" or "USB key" licensing. You are given a unique serial number and activation code. You can install MacVector on as many computers as you wish and enter the serial number and activation code on each computer. However, only one computer may be running MacVector using that serial number at one time on a local network. If you try to start a second copy you will be warned that the serial number is already in use and forced to quit MacVector. However, you are free to use MacVector on a home computer or on a laptop on a plane or at a conference without affecting the copy "back in the lab".
KeyServer Licensing
Customers using the Sassafras KeyServer concurrent usage license monitoring system are affected only minimally by the new licensing. You must still enter the new licensing details of License Owner, Serial Number and Activation Code. However, once entered, the activation code instructs MacVector to use the KeyServer licensing system.
