Comparison Chart of MacVector Editions
MacVector is available with four different levels of functionality. You should choose the version which is most suitable for your needs;
MacVector Free
As the name implies, this can be used free of charge by anyone with a Macintosh computer capable of running MacVector. While this edition is primarily aimed at allowing anyone to read MacVector format files and save and print sequences in a variety of common formats, there is a surprising amount of editing and internet functionality included. This allows anyone to create gorgeous vector graphics of their annotated sequences and export them to other presentation programs.
MacVector Cloning Edition
This version provides much of the core functionality of MacVector without all of the "bells and whistles". If you are primarily interested in creating constructs and designing primers, this is the most cost-effective solution.
MacVector Pro Edition
This version provides the full suite of analysis tools for DNA and Protein, including alignments and phylogenetic analysis. This is the "classic" MacVector version used by labs throughout the world for the past 25 years.
MacVector with Assembler
If you have the need to work with NGS data, or to assemble de novo sequences, this is the top-of-the-line version of MacVector with implementations of many of the most popular NGS and Assembly algorithms.
