Post Downloading sequences direct from the NCBI's databases
Rather than use the NCBI's web interface you can perform complex queries from within MacVector's Entrez Browser and view these hits directly in MacVector. You can also download sequences direct from the NCBI's databases from.  Doing it this way will ensure that all GenBank features are preserved.

To do this open MacVector and follow this steps:

2- Choose the Database from the drop down list that you want to retrieve your sequence from (the database list is generated automatically whenever you launch the Entrez Browser and always shows the available databases.
3- Enter the appropriate search terms into one or more of the fields.  You can be as general or as specific as you want.  For example change ALL FIELDS  to ORGANISM and enter Homo sapiens.  Change NONE to AND, and change ALL FIELDS to GENE NAME and enter psen2, to see all human Psen2 genes.
4- click search and MacVector submits a search to the NCBI.
5- It will present a list of all hits found.  Double click on a single sequence to open it directly into MacVector. Alternatively you can select a few hits and click TO DISC to save these all to your Mac.

All these sequences will show the same features that are present in the NCBI's database.
