Corrupt file when performing multiple sequence alignment

I can not create a multiple sequence alignment. An error message is displayed indicating that the MSA file is corrupt.

This problem is seen in MacVector 7.0

The problem is that your file names contain "illegal" characters.

Certain characters are used internally by ClustalW to store the tree format. The

work around is to remove all of the following five symbols from all sequence

names:

( ) , : ;

The reason for this problem is that the guide tree uses these symbols and if it finds them during the creation of the tree MacVector will quit. This has been corrected in more recent MacVector releases.
