Printing Mac graphics on PC software

Why do MacVector graphics sometimes fail to print on PC software?

Maps do not print satisfactorily from PC applications such as Microsoft Word. Why are some items solid black or missing altogether?

Save the MacVector graphic as a PostScript file, transfer the PostScript file to the PC, then insert it into a Word document.

Usually this is caused by unavoidable deficiencies in converting Mac PICT graphics into PC format. If you use Word on a Mac and paste a MacVector graphic map into a document, and then take that document to a PC and open it in Word, the Mac PICT graphics must be converted to then Windows equivalents. This is an imperfect process and is unlikely to work well, especially for circular maps.

If you intend to print MacVector graphic files on any non-Macintosh software, you should first print the map to disk as an EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) file, then move the EPS file to the PC and insert it into a Word document.
